With a career spanning 30 years, Matt Dunn and his team have built a formidable reputation, with more than 1,400 wins to their name including 10 at Group and Listed level.
Based at Murwillumbah on the NSW/QLD border, the stable sits in an ideal spot to make the most of both regional and metropolitan racing, from Sydney to Brisbane and everywhere in between. The complex holds up to 80 horses and offers a full range of facilities, with the three tracks of the Tweed River Jockey Club just down the road.

About Matthew Dunn
Matthew's racing life began at 16, apprenticed in Dave Sweeney's stables at Warwick Farm, where a light frame had him hopeful of a career as a jockey. The time in the saddle was short and well-travelled, but it lit something in him. He'd found the fire for training. In 1994 he took out his trainer's licence with a handful of horses at Port Macquarie.
That start led to the Gold Coast, where he trained a small team with real success. It was there that a friendship with Gerald Ryan took root, and before long an offer followed: move to Sydney, become foreman, and run Gerald's Rosehill stable alongside horses like Snitzel, Clangalang and Recurring. [italics on the horse names] Those years sharpened everything. Not just his eye for a good horse, but his understanding of what it actually takes to run a stable.
In 2012 the Murwillumbah stable came to life, and the years at Rosehill made returning to his own team feel like second nature. What began as a few horses quickly became the busy 80-horse operation it is today. In any given week you'll find his runners in Sydney, where he's trained 84 metropolitan winners, up to the Sunshine Coast, and at any number of tracks in between.
