<p>Having had experience with the family of&nbsp;Grand Prix Stakes&nbsp;fancy&nbsp;Moon Sweeper,&nbsp;Matthew Dunn&nbsp;was a little wary when the horse arrived at his stable. However, he has been pleasantly surprised by the three-year-old's easy-going temperament, which is in stark contrast to that of his dam, five-time winner&nbsp;La Scopa.</p>

<p>"I trained his mother. She was difficult but really tough and he's tough, only not difficult," Dunn said.</p>
<p>By distance sire&nbsp;Puissance De Lune (Ire), Moon Sweeper has won two of his three starts, progressing from a Lismore maiden victory in October to claim a metropolitan success at Doomben last start.</p>

<p>On Saturday, the untapped gelding steps up to black-type level in the Group 3 Grand Prix Stakes (1800m) in which Dunn expects him to appreciate the extra 200m.</p>
<p>"He's a horse that is going places, for sure. When they can take those leaps in their first few starts they've usually got a good future and I think he's got that.</p>
<p>"He will love the trip and he's done really well since his last run."</p>
<p>Moon Sweeper got the job done on a heavy track last start but Dunn said the gelding wasn't overly comfortable in the going and he was hoping the Eagle Farm surface, rated a Soft 7 on Thursday, continued to dry out.</p>
<p>Dunn added that it was also a case of the firmer the better for filly&nbsp;Scripted, who will be bidding to stake her claims to a&nbsp;Magic Millions&nbsp;Guineas berth when she resumes in the&nbsp;Gold Edition Plate&nbsp;(1200m).</p>
<p>Given a let-up after making it two wins from as many starts at Doomben in October, Scripted was due to run in Brisbane last weekend but was scratched due to the wet track and Dunn felt the extra week would only work in her favour.</p>
<p>"She is above average and she proved that when she won her second start in Brisbane, everything went wrong and she still beat them convincingly," Dunn said. "I am hoping she can win and then go through to the Magic Millions three-year-old race."</p>
<p>The Gold Edition Plate has a remarkable honour roll that includes&nbsp;Sizzling&nbsp;(2012),&nbsp;Winning Rupert&nbsp;(2016),&nbsp;Alligator Blood&nbsp;(2019) and&nbsp;Isotope&nbsp;(2020).</p>

<p>Imported stayer Sea King has his new trainer Matt Dunn a little bit excited about what the future holds as he makes his stable debut at Randwick on Saturday.</p>

<p>While he&rsquo;s a six-year-old, Sea King has clearly lived a sheltered life and Dunn was taken aback by his behaviour as he settled into his new surrounds at Murwillumbah.</p>
<p>He&rsquo;s obviously a talent, he scored a runaway Bendigo Cup win for Harry Eustace back at the end of October and was considered a chance in the Melbourne Cup so Dunn knows he has plenty to work with.</p>
<p>&ldquo;When he came up there was no plan, no rules, just to see how he is,&rsquo;&rsquo; Dunn said.</p>
<p>&ldquo;To bring him into the stable and see how he settled in and all he&rsquo;s done since he&rsquo;s come to me is put weight on and improve mentally.</p>
<p>&ldquo;I went to Werribee and watched him work and the young girl who came over with him from England said he was hard work. He shies at witches hats and does things you wouldn&rsquo;t expect and when he came up here he was the same.</p>
<p>&ldquo;As time has gone on he&rsquo;s just picked things up really well. We took him to the beach and he half took off down the beach the first time, it took him one go then he walked straight into the surf.</p>
<p>&ldquo;Particularly the last two weeks I&rsquo;m really happy. He was almost like a clean slate when he turned up, I was amazed at how little he knew.&rdquo;</p>
<p>Sea King was always coming to Murwillumbah once his Victorian campaign was done.</p>
<p>Clients of the Dunn yard bought into Sea King prior to his arrival in Australia so had an instant return when he won at Bendigo and since then a number of people in Dunn&rsquo;s former stable star Cepheus have joined the ownership.</p>
<p>Dunn said it&rsquo;s a little unusual to have a horse continue on after contesting the Melbourne Cup, where he ran fourteenth, but Sea King will do just that in the Listed $200,000 Max Brenner Christmas Cup (2400m).</p>
<p>Nash Rawiller travelled to the Gold Coast to ride Sea King in a barrier trial last week and the trainer said his response to the trial surprised him.</p>
<p>&ldquo;I&rsquo;m really excited to see what Sea King does,&rsquo;&rsquo; he said.</p>
<p>&ldquo;If he runs up to his work and runs up to his trial he&rsquo;ll win. Nash rode him in his trial and I&rsquo;ve never seen him so happy after riding any horse for me. I think he&rsquo;s a good judge.</p>
<p>&ldquo;He&rsquo;s a talented horse, I&rsquo;ve tried to sharpen him up and he&rsquo;s adapted well. His last gallop he worked over 1000m with one of my better sprinters and he sprinted as well as him.</p>
<p>&ldquo;I&rsquo;ve never had a horse come in after a Melbourne Cup run so what&rsquo;s left who knows but he&rsquo;s put about 23kg on since coming to me.&rdquo;</p>
<p>How Sea King performs in the Christmas Cup, he was $3.10 with TAB on Wednesday, will tell Dunn what his 2025 campaign will look like.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, we all know Dunn has dominated the Highway ranks over the years and Carribean King will be out to join the long list in the Oran Park Highway (1000m).</p>
<p>He&rsquo;s had seven starts for the stable and three at Highway level, for two seconds, but will need the breaks to turn the tables on Duke Of Bronte on their clash on November 5.</p>
<p>Carribean King, who has 11 seconds to his name, is 2kg worse off under the set weights conditions and has 1-3/4 lengths to make up on Duke Of Bronte, with Dunn saying a win will come down to needing a 10 out of 10 Nash Rawiller ride.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The big space between runs is the secret with him, that&rsquo;s what he needs,&rsquo;&rsquo; he said.</p>
<p>&ldquo;He&rsquo;s just got to be ridden very well, he needs to hit the front about 18cm from the winning post.</p>
<p>&ldquo;He has a tendency to get a bit lost and think about where he should be.&rdquo;</p>

<br /><br />The dominant winner of this weeks Bendigo Cup SEA KING(GB) will join our stable after he runs in Tuesday's Melbourne Cup.&nbsp; Currently the fourth pick in betting for the race that stops the nation SEA KING(GB) was purchased by us in a partnership with OTI Racing.<br /><br />The horse is raced by our owners Steve and Maree Anderson, Ian and Judi Cornell, Phil Sullivan's Goldmount Racing, Mark and Cherilyn Lowe, David Coghlan, Warren Watts, Mark Evans, Jason Benz, the very large Nose Hair Syndicate and Grace Solomon-Innes.<br /><br />We had been looking for another import, something we'd like to do an a slightly more regular basis, and after considering others Neil jumped on to this horse immediately.&nbsp; He came out of a race that is known to be a great guide to form in Australia and then when we saw the vision of him parading at Sir Mark Prescott's stable we fell in love with him, he is the most beautiful horse and a great athlete.&nbsp; To be fair we thought he would be a decent chance in a Sydney Cup and a strong chance in the Brisbane Cup when we bought him so to have him win at Bendigo as he did and now be well in the market for the Melbourne Cup will be a dream come true for our owners.&nbsp;<br /><br />We agreed that he should run in Victoria for his new owners as the prize money is excellent and he arrived in such good order and all credit to Harry Eustace and his team for the way they have prepared him.&nbsp; He showed a turn of foot on Wednesday that we haven't seen before and perhaps working with a sharper horse like DOCKLANDS has switched him on a bit.&nbsp; Damian Lane gave him a very good wrap for the way he felt when he worked at Moonee Valley a couple of weeks back and when good jockeys with his experience tell you that he worked well and felt really god you know you are on the right track.<br /><br />We are fortunate to have such a great working relationship with Terry, Gus and Shane at OTI and going into partnership again on this horse who we thought represented great value was easy to do.<br /><br />Neil was at Bendigo on Wednesday and when we spoke after the race he was full of praise for the way the horse presented and the improvement that is to come from that race.&nbsp; I will fly down so that I can see the horse myself on Monday morning and to talk to Harry Eustace about him and see what I can learn from him before the horse transfers to me.<br /><br />I would like to thank his new owners for being part of the new chapter in SEA KING's journey and I hope they get the lions share of the prize money on Tuesday and I look forward to having him join my stable soon there after.<br /><br /><br /><br />

<p>Sea King has made a powerful impression in his local debut, cruising to victory in Wednesday's 2400-metre Group 3 Bendigo Cup.</p>
<p>The OTI Racing-owned British import drifted from $4.60 to $7 in the days before the race, but the latter price was snapped up as he shortened to $5.50 just before jump time and the late money was spot on.</p>
<p>Declan Bates found a midfield spot off the rail and stayed there until the 1000-metre mark, where he eased out three-wide and allowed his mount to stride around the field.</p>
<p>Sea King was four wide around the home bend but still comfortably found the front and rail by the time he straightened up and the race was essentially over from there.</p>
<p>Berkeley Square and Star Vega chased valiantly but were a class below the Harry Eustace-trained stayer, who streaked clear to score by just under three lengths.</p>

<p>Sea King is now an $11 chance for the Melbourne Cup, in from the $51 available before the demolition job.</p>
<p>It was a thrilling result for Eustace, whose galloper will take a Cup spot after initially being bought as a - albeit very well-credentialed - mate for Cox Plate runner Docklands.</p>
<p>"It's incredibly exciting. A lot was riding on it, it's the last win-and-you're-in (spot) for the Cup, so it's an absolute dream result today," he said.</p>
<p>"I'd just like to thank (OTI's) Terry (Henderson) in particular, he managed to buy this horse just before Docklands travelled down as well and it's proving a pretty inspired purchase.</p>
<p>"Curiously, coming down, we never even thought we'd get close (to a Cup Spot) and, of course, since we've been here the Cup, as everyone is well aware, has really started cutting up, so the closer we got to getting in, the more pressure there was I suppose."</p>

<p>He also praised Bates for riding Sea King to its absolute strengths, with the gun hoop's mid-race move taking a dreaded sit-and-sprint finish out of the equation.</p>
<p>In Eustace's words, it was a much more European style of ride.</p>
<p>"It was just a beautiful ride from Dec Bates. We picked him because hopefully he'd understand the European style and it wouldn't be a sit-and-sprint," Eustace said.</p>
<p>"He just gave him a great ride and rode him full of coincidence. It (the mid-race move) felt like it was quite a long way out, but I was very keen to impress on him that he was more of a typical European-type horse and he's going to work his way into it.</p>
<p>"He took me at my word and it came off today."</p>

<p>Astute trainer Matt Dunn has always had a big opinion of promising colt Climactic (3c&nbsp;<a href="https://coolmore.com/farms/australia/stallions/yes-yes-yes">Yes Yes Yes</a>&nbsp;x Snitzel's Joy, by Snitzel), who opened his account with an impressive victory on Wednesday.</p>
<p>Dunn sent him to Sydney for last year&rsquo;s $1million ATC Golden Gift won by Shangri La Express and while he could finish only a brave fourth that day on debut beaten two lengths, he made light work of a maiden at the Sunshine Coast.</p>
<p>Given a lengthy spell after his Golden Gift run Climactic looked good winning two barrier trials last month before resuming to finish third as favourite at Doomben on August 3, but with better fitness and a step to 1200m the good looking colt bounced back in style.</p>
<p>Ridden by James Orman, Climactic surged to the lead after turning for home and coasted to the line to win by more than two lengths in a canter.</p>
<p>A $110,000 Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale purchase for Matthew Dunn/Neil Jenkinson Pty Ltd from the Telemon Thoroughbreds draft, Climactic is the first winner from metro winning Snitzel mare Snitzel&rsquo;s Joy, a grand-daughter of Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Dancer&rsquo;s Joy.</p>
<p>Snitzel&rsquo;s Joy was one of 149 mares covered last spring by Everest hero Yes Yes Yes, who is priced this spring at $19,250.</p>
<p>Climactic is the sixth first crop winner for Yes Yes Yes, who has sired five stakes horses and is his third winner of the new racing season.</p>
